Government may soon disburse all grants to colleges online
PANAJI: The directorate of higher education will soon begin disbursing all grants, including salary grants, online. A team of computer teachers from across the state is working on a software to put this system in place, and hope to have it in place by the next academic year. The directorate is also working on digitizing all service book records and doing away with hard copies.

In what may be a boon to students and college administrations, the directorate is also planning to enforce the rule of full-time principals by refusing to release maintenance grants to institutions that don’t have them. In an attempt to raise the standard of education in the state, the directorate also wants to publish a research journal of ‘international standard’ and promote start-up cells in colleges. Part of the plan is to utilize students who have availed of the Goa Scholars scheme to share knowledge and expertise with current students in the state.
Meanwhile, the directorate also plans on tying up with other institutions — to tap solar power, it may ally with the Goa Energy Development Agency, and for rainwater harvesting, it plans to take help from Goa State Biodiversity Board.
The directorate also has plans to install sanitary pad dispensing and incinerator machines with the held of Solid Waste Management Corporation.
