Actress Dayanara Torres has skin cancer: 'I have put everything in God's hands'

Actress Dayanara Torres says she has skin cancer. And after two surgeries, she's waiting to hear what other treatment is in store.

The former Miss Universe, 44, said in an Instagram post Monday that doctors "have already removed a big area from the back of my knee & also they have removed 2 lymph nodes at the top of my leg where it had already spread. Hoping it has not spread to any more areas or organs."

She said her fiance, Marvel Studios' co-president Louis D'Esposito, "had been begging me to have it checked & finally made an appointment himself" for her to get a doctor to examine the "big spot/mole I never paid attention to."

Torres, who has two children with ex-husband Marc Anthony, started the post with a caution to moms: "As mothers we are always taking care of everyone around us... our kids, family, friends & often we forget to take care of ourselves."

She added, "after a biopsy & a second surgery last Tuesday the results unfortunately are positive. Now we are waiting to see which treatment I will be receiving."

Torres said her sons Cristian, 18, and Ryan, 15, are "a bit scared" but know about her faith in God and that "they have a warrior of a mommy!"

She closed her post by reminding her followers: "PLEASE, never forget to take care of yourself."
