Winter Weather Reminder

With winter upon us, it is important to remind you that when Medfield schools are closed due to inclement weather, the center is closed. However, this year when we are closed, all our call-in and Zoom programs will run as scheduled.

If the center is closed on a regular shopping day due to snow, if possible we will run that trip the next available day. If we determine that it is unsafe for trips and or transportation provided by volunteers, the COA has the option to suspend services at any time.

Mondays at 12:30 p.m.—Weekend in Review (conference call).

Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:30 a.m. – Conference Call Bingo. Two cards are provided to all players, and end-of month-winners, first and second place, receive FOSI jackpot prizes.

The FOSI Yard Sale has gone virtual

So many events have been cancelled over the past 10 months, including the annual FOSI Yard Sale. The April 2021 sale is uncertain at this time.

However, FOSI has been holding a “Virtual” Yard Sale and items have been flying out the door. Donations of items that can be easily be carried in and out are being accepted to support this online event. Simply call the center and schedule a time to drop off your tax-deductible donation.

The next few months may be a great time to do early spring cleaning. Support FOSI by donating those gently used, unwanted items. FOSI supports the center and the programs.

Fuel assistance

Need help paying for fuel this winter? You are not alone. Fuel assistance helps thousands of local families with home heating bills each year. Fuel assistance is not just for oil, gas or electricity; if you heat your home with a pellet or wood stove, you can qualify to receive fuel assistance. The application process may seem daunting, and I am happy to assist you in this task. If you previously received fuel assistance, you should have received a renewal application in the mail. If you have not received your renewal application, you may call SMOC at 508-620-2342 and they will re-issue another one for you.

New to fuel assistance? No problem -- I have applications available for new applicants. Please contact the center at 508-359-3665 and ask for Lisa Marie Donovan, outreach coordinator, for a confidential appointment.
