CANDIA, NH — A Goffstown man was taken to the hospital Tuesday after the vehicle he drove flipped over on its roof on Route 101 in Candia. Police say the 78-year-old driver escaped serious injury but the Mazda he was driving had significant damage. The left lane of Route 101 East was closed to traffic while emergency officials worked on scene.

According to the State Police, the accident was reported around 2:55 p.m. Tuesday. State troopers found the Mazda G6 on its roof upon arrival. The accident occurred when the vehicle left the paved portion of the road and continued into the center median. The momentum and the shape of the roadway forced the Mazda to roll over and come to rest on its roof, according to State Police Troop A.

The Goffstown resident who drove the vehicle was taken to Elliot Hospital, where medical staff confirmed the man did not suffer serious injuries.
