Warren to consider plan for hotel behind Stone House restaurant

WARREN – A 48-room hotel is proposed behind the Stone House restaurant on Stirling Road.

The township zoning board of adjustment is scheduled to hear the application by Maddy Realty to build the three-story hotel in a virtual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

The project requires a use variance because hotels are not a permitted use in the zone.

If the board grants the use variance, then Maddy Realty will submit a site plan.

Another variance is required because the proposed hotel is three stories and only two-story structures are allowed in the zone.

The restaurant, which was formerly the Chateau Chanticler, and banquet facility will remain.

According to a letter to the township from Engineering and Land Planning Associates, the project's engineer, the purpose of the hotel is to provide accommodations for guests of events on the site.

Because no increase in traffic is anticipated because most of the guests would already be on the property for the events, a traffic study is not required, the letter says.

Parking for the hotel would be underground.

The hotel, built on a hillside, would have a bridal suite on the first floor.
