Frozen 2 is only a couple of months away from release and the new trailer puts Anna and Elsa into some serious danger.

Disney released the third – and likely final – trailer for the eagerly-anticipated sequel to the 2013 mega hit on Good Morning America today (September 23).

While we're still waiting for a taste of the songs, the trailer does show more of the quest into the past that Anna and Elsa head on in the sequel. But it's going to be dangerous: "The kingdom is not safe."

We knew a trailer was coming, of course, as star Evan Rachel Wood, who is joining the franchise in the Disney sequel, revealed the news on her Instagram over the weekend.

While many fans had hoped that Westworld star Wood had been cast as Elsa's girlfriend in Frozen 2, it was later revealed that she would instead be playing Elsa and Anna's mother, Queen Iduna.

In fact, the film won't give our icy heroine a love interest at all. One of the film's songwriters, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, recently said: "Like the first movie, Elsa is not just defined by a romantic interest.

"There's so many movies that define a woman by her romantic interest. That's not a story that we wanted to tell at this point in time."

Elsewhere, This Is Us star Sterling K Brown has been cast in the sequel as a character called Lieutenant Matthias and he's already teased that the film will have audiences in tears.

"Listen, if you don't [cry], the heart muscles need to be softened up a little bit because, yeah, this one should get you," he said.

Frozen 2 is released in UK and US cinemas on November 22.
