Devastated friends of a Walsall nurse who died after contracting Covid-19 have paid tribute after the loss of a "beautiful soul".

The news that Areema Nasreen, 36, has passed away in the early hours of this morning (Friday, April 3) left all who knew her devastated.

Areema, a mum-of-three, had tested positive for the deadly virus after developing a soaring temperature, body aches and a cough.

Although she was put on a ventilator in intensive care at Walsall Manor Hospital, many believed she would pull through - especially when she showed signs of improvement last week.

But as news broke of her death, her devastated friends took to social media to share their heartache.

A fellow nurse wrote: "I am so broken that words can’t explain. I can’t believe I will not see your smile again.

"You made me the nurse that I am today, with your support, motivation and inspiration and I hope I can do you proud Areema."

She continued: "I love you so much and I will never forget you. You had so much to live for.

"I am sorry you didn’t get to see your kids grow up and I’m sorry that you didn’t get to complete your career."

Another said: "This all seems very hard to believe as she was such a wonderful person, I truly believed she would make it through as she was a strong women."

A third added: "I am absolutely heartbroken from this news. I can’t even express how upset I am from this. What a beautiful soul that has been taken away from us."

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has been approached for comment.
