Bahrain Club shocked Muharraq 2-1, while Al Hidd defeated Al Najma 2-0 in the 14th week of the Bahrain VIVA Football First Division League played last night at the Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town.
Bahrain Club made the most shocking result this season at the expense of favourites Muharraq. It was also Bahrain Club’s first victory this season and they moved to eighth place with 10 points, while Muharraq remained with 22 points in third place.
Brazilian Christian shone brightest for Bahrain Club as he scored the two goals.
Bahrain Club opened the score sheet in the 27th minute, when striker Christian passed Muharraq goalkeeper Abdulla Al Kaabi and netted the ball.
Muharraq had a chance to equalise when Abdulla Abdo passed the ball to Ali Jamal who shot the ball but was brilliantly intercepted by Bahrain goalkeeper Salman Omar, as the first half ended 1-0.
Muharraq made two substitutions, sending in Fahad Shuwaiter and Ismael Abdullatif to replace Faisal Shawqi and Mohammed Al Hardan.
Christian had a chance to score but his header was saved by goalkeeper Abdulla Al Kaabi.
Muharraq succeeded to equalise in the 78th minute when Hisham Mansoor crossed the ball which found Ali Jamal who netted the ball.
However, a minute later, Bahrain scored their second goal through Christian to complete Bahrain Club’s easy victory.
Muharraq now are six points behind leaders Malkiya, with the former having one match on hand against Al Hidd.
Al Hidd moved up to fourth place with 22 points by defeating Al Najma 2-0 at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium. Al Najma, on the other hand, remained with 15 points in seventh place.
The goals came in the second half, after the first half ended 0-0.
The first goal came in the 59th minute when Al Hidd’s striker Uche headed and crossed the line of Al Najma goal. The second goal came in the injury time, when Uche scored his second from the penalty spot.
