MONTICELLO — A Parowan man died on Saturday after his motorcycle went off the road in San Juan County, authorities say.
The crash took place about 2:10 p.m. about 10 miles north of Monticello on U.S. Highway 191, according to a Utah Highway Patrol news release.
The motorcyclist was driving south on the highway when for some reason he did not negotiate a curve and went off the road, according to the release. He went down a steep embankment on the right side of the road and suffered fatal injuries, according to UHP.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Robin R. Smith, 67, of Parowan, according to the release.
There was no evidence of impairment during the crash, and Smith was wearing a helmet when he crashed, UHP said. Smith had “a recent medical history that may have contributed to the crash,” the release said.
No other information about the crash was available Monday.
