Cool temps, chance of snow in store for Las Vegas Valley
After weeks of unseasonably warm weather, the Las Vegas Valley will slip into below-average temperatures this week and may even see a trace of snow.
The valley should also get a break from gusty conditions, with only light winds in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday’s forecast high of 48 degrees falls well below the mid-60s the valley usually sees this time of year, the National Weather Service said. The last time a high temperature stayed below 50 degrees was Jan. 7, 2017, the weather service said.
Wednesday will bring partly cloudy skies with a 51-degree high and 31-degree low. The last time the weather service recorded a freezing low temperature was Dec. 27, 2016.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly Thursday with a high of 54 and low of 34. Breezes of 15 to 25 mph also are expected Thursday, the weather service said.
A 20 percent chance of showers Thursday night brings the possibility for snow along the western and southern edges of the valley, the weather service said. The weather service received reports of snow in Summerlin last month, but the agency hasn’t recorded snow at its official weather station at McCarran International Airport since Christmas Day in 2015.
Heading into the weekend, the weather service expects a partly cloudy Friday with a high of 53 and low of 30. Temperatures are expected to rise over the weekend with highs of 56 and 61 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Lows are expected in the 40s.
