CASCO - A 12-year-old Casco girl attempting to make her way to New York on foot was found in Michigan Sunday night.

Audrianna "Audrey" Kuhn, who had last been seen at 8 a.m. Sunday, was found in Mackinaw City by local law enforcement, Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski said.

Joski confirmed that Kuhn was making her way to New York to meet someone who she had met online. The sheriff's office did not make contact with the man.

"It was all speculation as far as the information we were given on the person," Joski said. "We had no reason to contact him as our biggest concern was getting her home safe."

Joski said it is not clear how Kuhn made her way to the northern Michigan city.

An alert about Kuhn was put out to notify all law enforcement agencies on the route from Wisconsin to New York. This allowed an officer in Mackinaw City to track her down.

Kuhn has been safely reunited with her family, Joski said.

"This is an example of some great information sharing," Joski said. "In this case we put it out on social media and to the media, and people did a good job of responding and sharing to get this information out."
