CLEVELAND, Ohio – One day after the line to vote early at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections extended for blocks and onto a highway exit ramp, the first day of Sunday voting in the county drew in more than 1,000 more votes.
The number of early in-person votes plus take-home ballots issued Sunday totaled 1,295, according to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections daily tally. More than 2,400 votes were cast Saturday - the first day of early weekend voting in the county.
The Board of Elections saw the most traffic come through the building between the hours of 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., with 910 ballots cast during those hours, the daily tally says. To date, 33,445 early in-person votes have been processed in Cuyahoga County.
Thousands more absentee ballots were received by the board Sunday. According to the daily tally, 14,839 valid ballots were received, bringing the total in the county to 219,708.
The Board of Elections will have extended in-person voting hours this week as the country inches closer to Election Day. The hours are now 8 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, in addition to Saturday and Sunday hours.
