As previously reported, Phish have named their second full-length release since returning to the stage in 2009 Fuego. The Vermont Quartet’s twelfth studio effort, which was produced by Bob Ezrin, is set for release on June 24 and will contain nine of the songs the group performed as part of their “Wingsuit” set on Halloween in Atlantic City. Fuego will also include Page McConnell’s “Halfway to the Moon,” which the group debuted on June 19, 2010,

Most of the songs on the album are collaborations between the four members of Phish, though Trey Anastasio and Tom Marshall co-wrote “Sing Monica,” “Devotion to a Dream” and “Winterqueen,” while Mike Gordon and Max Creek/Mike Gordon Band guitarist Scott Murawski are responsible for “555.” In addition, Don Hart, who previously worked with Anastasio on “Time Turns Elastic” arranged the horns on “Winterqueen.”

According to a press release, the songs for Fuego took shape during a series of visits to The Barn, located just outside the band’s hometown of Burlington, VT. Along with the hometown sessions, the band also recorded at Ronnie’s Place and Anarchy Studios in Nashville, TN and Fame Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL. A variety of background vocalists and horn players also contributed to the album. The nine-minute version of “Fuego” was recorded during the band’s soundcheck on October 30, 2013 by longtime Phish collaborator Jon Altschiller.

“For years, there’s been a distinct difference between how we did things live and how we did them in studio,” notes Jon Fishman. “But the way we go about things live, the way the musical ball is passed around, is now happening much more in the studio-not because we’re trying to duplicate how we play on stage, just because this is how we operate as a band, period.”

NPR announced the full tracklist—which is listed below—and has also premiered “Waiting All Night” from the band’s forthcoming release. The band will serve as the musical guest on Late Show with David Letterman on June 24.

Pre-orders for Fuego will be available today at Phish.com. The iTunes pre-order will launch tomorrow, May 15.
