LONG ISLAND, NY — This November, Long Island residents will be hitting the polls to exercise their right to vote. While voters will be electing the president this Election Day, they will also be choosing their local representatives. In New York, state and federal races will also be on the ballot.

Republican Phil Boyle, 59, of Bay Shore is running for re-election for New York Senate's 4th District. He is being challenged by democratic nominee Christine Pellegrino.

The district covers Bay Shore, Bayport, Baywood, Bohemia, Brentwood, Central Islip, Deer Park, East Islip, Fire Island, Gilgo, Great Giver, Holbrook, Holtsville, Islip, Islip Terrace, North Babylon, North Bay Shore, North Great River, North Lindenhurst, Oak Beach-Captree, Oakdale, Ronkonkoma, Sayville, West Babylon, West Bay Shore, Babylon, Brightwaters, Lindenhurst, Saltaire, West Islip, Wheatley Heights, Wyandanch and Ocean Beach.

Boyle received his BA from UNC-Chapel Hill, his JD from Albany Law School of Union University and his MPA from SUNY Albany.

He has served as state senator for the past 8 years and worked as an attorney for the past 30 years. Before he was elected as senator, he served as a state assemblyman.

Why are you seeking elective office?

To continue the work I am doing representing the residents of the Fourth Senate District, To assist those who are suffering during this global pandemic

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Political philosophy. I am moderate, center right in beliefs and philosophy. My opponent, a good person, is arguably much further to the left of the political spectrum as evidenced by her open and strong support for Bernie Sanders

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Assisting our small businesses and economy to reopen safely with masks and social distancing.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been a statewide leader in the fight against heroin and opioids. My successful Chairmanship of the Senate Commerce Commerce Committee and in assisting our state to become more business.
