Brown Circle In Revere To Partially Reopen After Rollover

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the Brown Circle rotary "will be severely impacted throughout the day."

REVERE, MA — A busy Revere traffic circle is set to partially reopen this afternoon after a tractor-trailer hauling 10,000 gallons of gas rolled over and spilled its contents before the morning commute.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the Brown Circle rotary will reopen around 2 p.m. to Route 60 traffic. Route 107 southbound will remain closed.

Milling and paving on the damaged road will begin around 8 p.m.

MassDOT earlier said rotary "will be severely impacted throughout the day." Route 60 East was closed from Patriot Parkway, as was Route 107 and Broadway between Revere Street and Patriot Parkway. Some of the closures are expected to last through the evening commute.

Route 107 stretches from the edge of Chelsea up into Salem. The crash had major effects on North Shore residents heading into Boston, with massive lines jammed throughout Saugus.

The rollover happened around 4:30 a.m. at the entrance of the Sunoco Gas Station. Emergency personnel, including the Department of Environmental Protection, are on scene.

No injuries were reported.
