Flooding, Thunderstorms Possible In Cuyahoga County

Fall arrived in northern Ohio with a blast of rain and gusts of wind.

CLEVELAND β€” Severe thunderstorms and local flooding are possible Wednesday in Cuyahoga County.

"Periods of heavy rainfall and localized flooding are possible today and tonight. In addition, severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts are possible this afternoon and early evening," the National Weather Service.

Cuyahoga County residents are also warned to avoid Lake Erie's waters until at least Thursday morning.

"Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake," the National Weather Service said.

Conditions should continue to be dangerous through at least Wednesday night.

Current forecasts show rain continuing sporadically through Wednesday and into Thursday morning. There is a slim chance of showers persisting on Thursday, though any precipitation should dry up by Friday.
