Alabama Confirms 32 New Coronavirus Deaths

MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 514 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, and added 32 new deaths to its total. The state’s death toll is now 2,253.

Hospitalizations in Alabama from COVID-19 have declined, as the state reported Tuesday that 792 patients remained in Alabama hospitals with the virus.

In the last two weeks, the ADPH has confirmed 8,879 new COVID-19 cases, out of 82,057 tests administered in the state. Of the 126,813 positive tests reported by the state since the pandemic began, 54,223 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus.

Of the 514 new cases confirmed Tuesday, more than 20 percent of them were reported in Jefferson County, which reported more than twice the number of new cases than any other county.

The counties reporting the most new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday:

  • Jefferson County: 113 new cases; 17,597 total

  • Tuscaloosa County: 50 new cases; 5,658 total

  • Shelby County: 44 new cases; 4,724 total

  • Limestone County: 25 new cases; 1,832 total

  • Montgomery County: 24 new cases; 8,212 total
