MARYLAND — Exactly four months ago, Maryland reported its first cases of the coronavirus. The three people who tested positive for the virus live in Montgomery County and had contracted the virus while on an Egyptian river cruise.
In the four months since, nearly 70,000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Maryland, the Maryland Department of Health reported Sunday. A total of 3,118 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.
Montgomery County has had more people die than any other jurisdiction in the state, with 711 deaths from COVID-19. More than 15,000 people in Montgomery County, which is Maryland's most populous jurisdiction, have tested positive for the virus.

Prince George's County has had the most confirmed cases of the virus statewide, with nearly 19,000 cases as of Sunday and 666 deaths.

There are now 69,632 confirmed cases of the virus statewide, the Maryland Department of Health reported Sunday. Nearly 300 people tested positive for the virus in the past day, state health officials said.
The positivity rate is 4.7 percent on a rolling, seven-day average, according to state officials.
