A Morristown man faces murder charges related to a shooting death on Clyde Potts Drive last month, officials said.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll announced on Friday evening that Tyrell Lansing, 27, of Morristown, was arrested in relation to the Aug. 18 incident. Lansing was taken into custody on Aug. 19 in Oklahoma.

At about 1 a.m. on that day, police received reports of a shooting on Clyde Potts Drive in Morristown. When they arrived they found a man, later identified as Raijah Scott, 35, of Cedar Knolls, in the parking lot near 28 Clyde Potts Drive with multiple fatal gunshot wounds, Carroll said.

The autopsy ruled the shooting a homicide and investigators learned that Lansing and Scott knew each other, Carroll said.

Lansing has been charged with charged with first degree murder and multiple weapons charges. Prosecutors said he remains in Oklahoma, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
