Belarus, Russia discuss ways to reduce cellular roaming rates

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – Approaches to fixing the problem of costly roaming services in the Union State of Belarus and Russia were discussed during the fourth international science and practice conference Antimonopoly Policy: Science, Practice, Education. The conference took place in Moscow on 6-7 December, BelTA learned from representatives of the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry.

Participants of the conference discussed competition on digital markets, approaches to considering global deals of economic concentration, effective tariff regulation, and ways to improve the government procurement system in the modern world.

A roundtable session took place as part of the conference to discuss the cost of roaming between countries and between mobile carriers.

Representatives of the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry, the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the private sector took part in the conference. They discussed approaches to removing high rates on roaming services inside the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Measures to reach the goal and the timeframe for taking the measures were determined.
