FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people are dead and two are injured following a home invasion and shooting in Cumberland County near Fayetteville on Wednesday morning, according to Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis Wright.

Deputies responded to a call regarding a home invasion and shooting at a residence in the 1100-block of Charlie Drive shortly after 5 a.m.

According to officials, their investigation has so far revealed that a male suspect went into the home and shot four males.

Deputies arriving at the scene found two people who had been shot to death and another two who were injured.

The two who were killed were identified as 19-year-old Marquez Tyteon Melvin of Fayetteville and a 16-year-old juvenile also of Fayetteville.

One of the injured victims was taken to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition. The other victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office homicide unit is currently investigating the shooting. There is no suspect information at this time.
