Listen to Episode 38 of ‘Blue Rush’: Can Devonta Freeman Help Giants? feat. Dave Tollefson

The Giants look to get in the winning column when they return home to take on the defending NFC champions. The Giants are getting the 49ers at the perfect time, with several crucial players out Sunday, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Giants come in with injuries of their own and a new running back to replace Saquon Barkley this season. To get into everything in Giants land, we bring you a new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Paul Schwartz and two-time Super Bowl champion Lawrence Tynes.

The guys open up the show discussing the Giants signing of Devonta Freeman. What kind of workload do they expect of Freeman Sunday? Can the ex-Falcons Pro Bowl running back help the Giants win some games? Tynes thinks he will help the team, but Dion Lewis will still get more carries for now. The guys then get into the game Sunday and go through the long list of 49ers injuries and why they both believe the Giants are bound to get a victory. The key will be Daniel Jones not turning the ball over and getting Evan Engram involved with Sterling Shepard out. Tynes then tells a story about being detained at the Super Bowl parade in this week’s edition of “Tynes Time.”

Tynes’ teammate with the Giants, two-time Super Bowl champion defensive end Dave Tollefson then joins the three of us. Tollefson opens up by telling the story of hitting Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, but Justin Tuck getting credit for the sack. He then talks about his journey to the NFL from Northwest Missouri State, how he ended up on the Giants and his stop at a wild scene in Oakland with JaMarcus Russell and Lane Kiffin there. Tollefson gets into his strong relationship with that defensive line on the Giants. Tollefson recalled the time Strahan told him to stay in the game for him because he’s in the “high motor white guy hall of fame.” No. 71 also talks special teams and why Tynes was such a good teammate. The two former teammates then share awesome stories about their moms keeping it real, including the time Tynes’ mom called Eli Manning “rubbish” with the quarterback listening on. Tollefson ends talking about the current Giants defense not looking great, but loving a special teams head coach in Joe Judge.

NY Post fantasy football writer Samantha Previte then gives out her best start and sit options for Week 3 with “Sam’s Fantasy.”

l wrap up the show with “Brown’s Best Bets” for Week 3 with my three best bets against the spread and my three-team parlay.
