Tracking potential for icy roads the next couple days

Tracking potential for icy roads the next couple days
other folks. I'm chief meteorologist RB Bobby. The 40 29 tv dot com forecast on this Tuesday, February the ninth, and folks, we are still tracking that concern over ice tonight in the Wednesday Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Now Azzawi continue. Throughout this Tuesday evening, we are seeing that little bit of drizzle and freezing drizzle across the river valley, pushing back in the northwest Arkansas. So is it mostly dry afternoon in northwest Arkansas? We're going to see that freezing drizzle come back in this evening and once again as we go throughout the night tonight, especially in northwest Arkansas, that concern over slick spots and ice patches will be there. Temperatures did not get above freezing today in northwest Arkansas like yesterday, so road temperatures are cold. Got to be careful out there, more so probably tonight than even the last couple of nights, but certainly not too different in terms of how much moisture is coming in for us in the River Valley models kind of going temperatures neared a little bit above freezing across the river valley. I think that's generally true, though I think. Look, Fort Smith, Van Buren, we got below freezing today and temperatures air flirting with the freezing mark this evening. So there will be areas in the River Valley, especially the farther west. You go into Oklahoma, where there are slick spots to develop tonight, and especially across these Oklahoma there will be slick spots will be careful tonight there as well again, even in parts of the River Valley, Fort Smith, Van Buren on off to the east, maybe less so toward or Zoe's Ark and Clarksville initially. But certainly those areas could get in on some of that ice as we go later in the Wednesday or at least Wednesday night Thursday, again just very light amounts of moisture in the atmosphere. It's not much through tonight into tomorrow morning in the early tomorrow morning. Now, as we go and you could see temperatures again in the northwest Arkansas, they're not gonna get above freezing at any point over the next couple days. So again, whatever comes down Northwest targets will be basically freezing rain. Or maybe some sleep on occasionally some flurries at times. Now you can see the next batch of moisture starts to come in as we go into the mid morning timeframe on Wednesday, perhaps as early as seven or eight, but more more like a little bit closer to nine or 10 a.m. pushing it in the River Valley and then into parts of northwest Arkansas. As you go farther north, the atmosphere gets much drier, and so you're not gonna be dealing with is much of that freezing rain in parts of Benton County, especially northern Benton County, as you will in Washington, Madison County. But we're all seeing some of that light freezing rain on Wednesday. Again, this is a, ah better push of moisture and eso. There will be a little bit mawr coming down a little bit heavier pace, anyway. It's still light, but coming out of the heavier pace than it has been the last couple of days for us in the River Valley temperatures again, They're right on the border of freezing. Some of us in the River Valley are going to be just just cold enough for ice to develop others not quite cold enough. The farther west to go again in Oklahoma, the more likely is you have that ice. But other parts of the River Valley and Arkansas certainly could see some of that as well with the best chance is obviously being at the higher elevations. But all along I 40 we have to watch for that ice concern throughout the day on Wednesday. I think the slickest conditions likely in northwest Arkansas on Wednesday in parts of East Oklahoma, the rest of River Valley could a little bit of ice buildup on some trees, that kind of thing. But I don't know that our roads necessarily especially I 40 gets particularly dangerous during the day Wednesday. But as we go into Wednesday night, we start to see temperatures drop back again, probably close to freezing, still have a little bit of moisture in the atmosphere, and then, later on Wednesday night in the early Thursday morning, we see probably the biggest push of moisture into the area, and this one really mainly affecting the River Valley into central Oklahoma Wednesday night, into Thursday morning and again, temperatures, they're just kind of flirting with freezing across the river valley. I think mawr of us will be at or below freezing by late Wednesday night or Thursday morning in the River Valley than any point leading up to that on DSO the build up of ice. Probably, uh, Mawr substantial there Wednesday night into Thursday morning and then more of a concern, perhaps on some of our area roads. Some of that late Wednesday night or Thursday morning Probably gets into parts of northwest Arkansas, especially Washington, Madison County as well. So a concern still for us in northwest Arkansas as well. Going into early Thursday morning, especially the farther south you go. So definitely gonna be a concern on the roads in northwest. Targets on some roads could be affected by this in the river valley as well. And you could see still going on in the early Thursday morning. We think by about mid morning Thursday, we're starting to see this clear out of here. And by Thursday afternoon, we're drying out. The atmosphere still cold and temperatures still below freezing in northwest Arkansas. I suspect we're actually close to the freezing mark at this point on Thursday. So colder than the numbers you see from right house model right here. Probably closer to the freezing mark across the river valley. S O bottom line is here, folks, they're gonna be slick spots across the area. It does not look like we get enough ice for power outage problems. I think that's a bigger concern into central Arkansas and East Arkansas for us, we don't get quite that much moisture. For the most part, the one area I do kind of worry about a little bit. Here is Leflore County, where temperatures a little colder. You get more of that moisture. The further south you go, the more of that ice. That could be a little bit of a concern there, parts of the floor. Scott County Logan, especially at the higher elevations in these areas. Otherwise, the power outage concern is really mawr off to our east, towards Central and east Arkansas and that ice is going to be hit and miss across the River Valley. But where you get some of that, of course, could cause some issues and certainly will have at least some some some of those issues in northwest Arkansas with the slick roads just gotta be careful out there, just got to take it easy. That's you know that's really what it comes down to more than anything else just being careful on the roads. We'll continue to watch this for you have Mawr updates, We're gonna keep getting new information coming in the weather center. All those updates tonight at five PM, six PM and 10 PM on 40 29 of course, at 9 p.m. On the CW.
