Relativity Media’s Angela Courtin is joining Fox as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the network. Her appointment comes one day after Relativity filed for bankruptcy protection, and on the same day the company has its first day in bankruptcy court.

At Fox, Courtin will be responsible for the net’s overall brand strategy and will oversee on-air and off-air promotion and advertising, national media, multiplatform and affiliate marketing, design and social media.

“Angela is one of the most strategic and forward-thinking marketers in the business,” Fox Television Group COO Joe Earley said in his announcement Friday. “Her extensive background in integrated marketing, digital media, branding and content make her the perfect fit to evolve our marketing strategy in this changing TV landscape.”

Courtin commented, “Fox has proven to be a home for creative risk takers, compelling characters and culturally relevant stories. I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with such an impressive team and roster of shows, both of which continue to raise the bar for the industry.”

Courtin was the first chief marketing officer at Relativity. Joining in summer 2014, she was responsible for all film, television and sports marketing initiations, plus all branding and advertising campaigns at the digital-age entertainment company. She also launched a new digital division and oversaw Relativity Digital and Madvine, the company’s branded entertainment and consumer products arm.

Prior to Relativity, Courtin was president of Dentsu Aegis Network U.S., where she helped launch the company’s branded content agency, the Story Lab. Previously, she served as chief content officer for Aegis Media. She also held executive marketing positions at MTV and MySpace, and served as an associate producer on HBO’s “Big Love.”

Courtin will report to Earley and Fox Television Group chairs and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman.
