Two Aussie classics collide: McDonald's launches its limited-edition Tim Tam McFlurry - and shares how you can try it BEFORE it hits restaurants

McDonald's and Arnott's are combining two Australian classics to release a limited-edition Tim Tam McFlurry just in time for summer.

The delicious vanilla ice cream treat, which will have crunchy Tim Tam biscuit pieces and a smooth milk chocolate sauce drizzled on top, promises to be a one-of-a-kind dessert when it hits restaurants nationwide on December 1.

But if you want to taste test it sooner the McFlurry will be exclusively available on UberEats from November 24 for one week.

The Tim Tam McFlurry marks the start of Macca's biggest summer campaign yet, with new flavour combinations, menu items and collaborations hitting franchises from now until February. 

'To celebrate the magic of summer Macca's is kicking off two months of exciting new menu items, delicious flavour combinations and iconic brand collaborations to help our customers enjoy great times together,' Marketing Director at McDonald's Australia, Tim Kenward, said.

'At Macca's we believe great combinations make summer so special, whether that's sun and surf, friends and family, or Tim Tam and McFlurry.

'We're so excited to kick-start our summer campaign by introducing one of our most iconic flavour combinations, giving Aussies a delicious dessert to enjoy with loved ones this summer.' 

While the price of the McFlurry will vary depending on the franchise the lowest cost is $4 per regular serve.

At present McDonald's is selling Mini M&M-flavoured McFlurries and an Oreo cookie option, alongside the fast food restaurant's usual hot apple pie and fudge sundaes.

Tim Tam was originally created by Ian Norris, the director of food technology at Arnott's in the 1950s.

In 1958 he decided to tour the world searching for inspiration for new products and came across the Penguin biscuit in Britain.

Instead of taking the idea he decided to 'make a better' version of it and Tim Tam's were introduced to the market in 1964.
