Hamptons police on lookout for woman stalking Broadway star

Broadway star Betty Buckley, who appeared on TV’s “Eight Is Enough” and played the gym teacher in the original “Carrie,” is being stalked by a woman who sources say is obsessed with her.

Police in the Hamptons have been warned to be on the lookout for a woman in her late 40s whenever Buckley takes the stage in Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater’s “Grey Gardens” this month.

We’re told the woman, believed to be from Louisiana, has been following Buckley for up to six years, showing up when the Tony winner had recent performances in New York and Dallas.

“She follows Betty everywhere,” says the source. “She’s got real problems. This is a person who seems to have some sort of mental illness.”

We’re told the stalker has sent Buckley inappropriate letters and gifts. “The letters are just very obsessive and very demanding . . . They’re pretty rambling and, to a degree, threatening.”

We’re told those close to Buckley are not certain if the stalker is dangerous, but precautions are being taken with authorities.

A rep for Buckley declined to comment.
