Plainfield man killed in Route 287 crash with motorcycle and tractor-trailer

EDISON – A 61-year-old Plainfield man died early Monday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a tractor-trailer near Interstate 287 and Route 440.

New Jersey State Police identified the victim as Terrance R. Edwin.

New Jersey State Police responded to the crash around 5:28 a.m. Monday on northbound Route 440 in Edison.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Honda motorcycle driven by Edwin and a Western Star tractor-trailer were traveling south on I-287 to northbound Route 440 when the vehicles collided, according to New Jersey State Police.

Edwin was ejected from the motorcycle and struck by the tractor-trailer, State Police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Dennis R. Brown, 74, of Acme, Pennsylvania, was not injured in the crash, State Police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
