The rumors are true: By spring 2020, Shake Shack will open in Cherry Creek North, just a ShackBurger’s throw from the mall and longtime neighborhood burger joint Cherry Cricket.

Known for its high-quality beef patties, flat-top hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries and an enthusiastic fan base, New York-based Shake Shack will open its third Denver store on the ground floor of 260 N. Josephine St., a representative of the company on Thursday told The Denver Post.

BusinessDen was first to speculate on the forthcoming restaurant, and representatives for Shake Shack confirmed the news in an email to The Denver Post on Thursday.

The new fast-casual burger joint will take up around 4,200 square feet of a new 70,000-square-foot office, retail and parking structure, according to Shake Shack. Elevation Development, the developer behind the Josephine Street building, was not available for comment.

Last year, Shake Shack opened its first two Colorado locations in RiNo and Highlands Ranch. In addition to the Cherry Creek store, two more Shake Shacks are on the way — one in Boulder and another at Denver International Airport.

Famed restaurateur Danny Meyer founded Shake Shack in 2004 in New York’s Madison Square Park. It has since expanded to nearly 250 locations across the U.S. and internationally.
