The New Jersey Devils had Taylor Hall for three and a half years and he was so great for them when he was healthy. Fans should appreciate the time he was here.

The New Jersey Devils have been less than good for a two-straight seasons. They had one run to the playoffs in the last few seasons, and the biggest reason they made it that year was the play of Taylor Hall. He was one of the best players in the history of the franchise in his short time with them. The Devils traded Adam Larsson to the Edmonton Oilers for Hall in the summer of 2016.

In his time with New Jersey, he was one of the best wingers in the National Hockey League. He was so good on the way to the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs that he won the Hart Trophy as the league MVP.

In that magical season, he had 39 goals and 54 assists for 93 points. He helped drag New Jersey into the playoffs that year. His 208 points in 211 games played with the Devils are good for the best points per game (0.99) in the history of the franchise.

Hall started to gain haters amongst the fanbase towards the end of his tenure in New Jersey. That is because he was on an expiring contract and made it pretty clear he wanted to be on a winning team. Well, the Devils were clearly not going to be a winning team by the time December 1st rolled around so the rumors started to fly. A lot of teams were in the mix, but they ultimately traded him to the Arizona Coyotes.

Hall went to Arizona and was a good player for them until the pause of the season. It is unclear what Hall’s fate will be after this season, but there is no doubt that he was a fantastic player for New Jersey. Not only was he fantastic, but he was also one of the best offensive players in the history of the franchise. It’s a shame that the Devils were never able to consistently put a winning team around him.

He spent a lot of time injured during the 2018-19 season which started to become the beginning of the end of his time in New Jersey. Prior to that injury, however, he was on track to repeat what he did the year prior. The Devils need their young players to step up now in the place of Hall but that might take a couple of years. Taylor was a great New Jersey Devil when he was healthy and only a misinformed person would deny it.
