Michigan Rape Suspect Spotted In Jefferson County, Reward Offered

A man wanted for a 2007 rape has reportedly been spotted in Jefferson County, and U.S. Marshals are offering $25,000 for his capture.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A Michigan man wanted for the brutal 2007 rape of a young girl has reportedly been spotted in Jefferson County. Corey Deshawn Gaston has been a fugitive from justice for more than 10 years.

Corey Deshawn Gaston, 41, is charged in a 2007 rape that happened in Michigan. According to an Alabama Media Group report, Gaston's crime and time on the run placed him on the U.S. Marshals Service Top Most Wanted Fugitives list.

Gaston is accused of breaking into the home of a 10-year-old girl and kidnapping her through a bedroom window. Investigators say he put the child over his shoulder and ran to a nearby alley where he threw her on the ground and brutally raped her.

Northern District of Alabama U.S. Marshal Marty Keely on Friday said Gaston has been seen over the past three years in the western area of Jefferson County. He is believed to have frequented the Bessemer/Adger areas in the past two months.

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2, or 1-877-926-8332.
