Margaret Ann Tobin ("Toby") Tackett died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 9, 2022. She was born June 3, 1930, in Little Rock, Ark., to Edna Morris Tobin and Chester Tobin of England, Ark. An only child, Margaret grew up surrounded by her loving Morris family in England, Ark. She graduated from England High School and attended Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C., prior to attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. She graduated from the U of A in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and in 1957 with a Masters of Education. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and traveled with many of her sorority sisters around the country into her 80s. Margaret married Dewey Lee ("Sonny") Tackett on May 31, 1956. Although they had known each other for most of their lives, they never dated until they were in college at the U of A. Their marriage was based on mutual respect and a deep love for one another. They were together until his death in 1996, days shy of their 40th wedding anniversary. She taught Physical Education and English in Key West, Fla., England, and Fayetteville, prior to moving to Stuttgart, Ark. It was there they raised their four children, which she felt was her greatest accomplishment. Margaret was a loving, supportive mother and always put her family first. She was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, girl's softball coach, and attended many baseball, basketball, band, and other events. She was her children's greatest cheerleader and fan. Besides family, faith and church family were extremely important to Margaret. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and served First United Methodist Church in Stuttgart in many capacities through the years. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing bridge, tennis, and watching the Razorbacks play any sport. Margaret is survived by her son Milton (Jerri Jo) Tackett of Savannah, Ga.; three daughters, Lee Tackett of North Little Rock, Ark., Kay Tackett of Memphis, Tenn., and Beth (Jesse) Boyd of Little Rock; and two grandchildren, Greg Tackett of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jay (Olivia) Tackett, of Charleston, S.C. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church at 4th and Grand in Stuttgart. A visitation will be held in the Ladies Parlor at 10 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be at Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas. Our family would like to thank Dr. Eddy Hord for his compassionate care as well as her loving and dedicated caregivers that have been by her side these past several years, Glenda Hobbs, Bonnie Statewright, Patricia Johnson, Denise Cartwright, and Lisa Donaldson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Stuttgart, the Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie, The Grand Prairie Job Center or to a charity of your choice. www.turpin-co.com
