Did This 1981 MTV Clip Predict The iPhone?

Got your iPhone 6? Good. Now prepare for goosebumps.

Happy iPhone 6 Day, everyone! Take a break from tinkering with all those cool, new features and prepare yourself for a good spook.

While reaching into our MTV archives, we found this gem from 1981 with one of the first MTV VJs, Mark Goodman, describing a new invention -- the "eye"-phone.

Goodman -- who is rockin' the exposed-sock-and-slacks look -- describes an ocular device similar to headphones -- not our line of beloved Apple products. Eye-phones can supposedly block out light and generate visualizations while you listen to music. And, shocker, eye-phones never really happened.

I imagine eye-phones displaying those fuzzy ethereal lines and ambient circles you'd see on Windows Media Player in 2001 (eyeTunes, if you will).

If you don't get chills hearing the iPhone mentioned in casual '80s programming, perhaps you will when Goodman says, "Music, that's what we're about. Not iPhones... yet."

Ahh! Goosebumps!
