North Dakota reports zero COVID-19 deaths, small increase in active cases

Active virus cases climbed slightly in North Dakota on Thursday, though case levels still hover around their lowest point since the middle of last summer. The state remains one of the top states in the country in the vaccine rollout so far.

BISMARCK — Following are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Thursday, March 4. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.

Statewide case rates

  • NEW CASES: 119
  • TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 665
  • TOTAL CASES: 100,184
  • TOTAL RECOVERED: 98,071
  • DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 2.11%

North Dakota's active case count increased by 60 on Thursday. Cass County reported 34 new cases, Williams County reported 12, Stark County reported 10 and Burleigh County reported seven additional cases.

Hospitalizations, deaths

  • ACTIVE HOSPITALIZATIONS: 22

  • DEATHS, NEWLY REPORTED: 0

  • TOTAL DEATHS: 1,448

The Department of Health reported no COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.

Vaccinations

  • FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 142,513 (19.4% of the population)

  • COMPLETED SERIES (2 DOSES): 80,747 (11% of the population)

North Dakota continues to rank among the top states in the country in the vaccine rollout. A total of 241,102 shots have been administered to North Dakotans, and 95% of the doses received by the state have been administered.
