Aug. 7: Anne Arundel County adds 43 coronavirus cases and two deaths as positive test rate hits 3.38%

Anne Arundel County confirmed 43 new coronavirus cases and two deaths Friday, according to state health data. Maryland confirmed 801 new coronavirus cases and 14 new deaths.

Numbers released Friday morning show the county now has 7,243 confirmed cases and 213 deaths. Another nine people may have died from the disease, but a lab test was never performed. Maryland now has 93,806 confirmed cases and 3,429 deaths.

Across Maryland, at least 1,377,459 tests have been conducted, an increase of more than 28,000 in the last 24 hours, bringing the statewide seven-day average rate of positive cases to 3.9%. Anne Arundel’s rate of positive cases is 3.38%. Maryland’s seven-day average positivity rate is the lowest it has been since the beginning of the pandemic, according to a state news release.

Statewide, 528 people are currently hospitalized with 135 patients in the ICU and 393 patients in acute care.
