Universal Orlando reveals Jurassic World VelociCoaster is opening in summer 2021

ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s official: Universal Orlando has announced that its latest thrill ride, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, is opening in summer 2021.

Last week’s announcement was the first time Universal had revealed any details about the roller coaster under construction at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, but the secret was hard to hide. Theme park fans have admired the latest progress as the track has been built this summer, and they’ve posted on social media about construction milestones.

Universal is coming off its Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opening last year, which won rave reviews with fans and still draws an early-morning crowd to be among the first to ride it when the park opens.

Universal gave a gushing synopsis of the attraction online:

“Step into Jurassic Park and stand in awe and wonder at a land transformed by science after 65 million years. But don’t be deceived by the island’s beauty because danger lurks behind every corner. Only here can you live the adventure of coming face to face with giant creatures of the Earth’s past, encounter raptors roaming every day, or take a daring raft expedition through jungles teeming with dinosaurs.”

It concluded by calling the Jurassic World VelociCoaster “a new species of roller coaster coming Summer 2021.”
