Keith Joseph Sonnier

Lafayette - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at The Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist at 1:30 p.m. for Keith Joseph Sonnier, 58, of Lafayette, LA who passed away at his residence on October 11, 2021.

The celebrant of the funeral services will be Fr. Chester Arceneaux.

Entombment will be in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Cemetery.

Keith was born on August 25, 1963, in Lafayette LA. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary Institute class of 1981. Upon graduation he was a graduate of the welding program at Lafayette Vo-Technical Institute which is now known at South Louisiana Community College in 1983. In 1987 he became a member of the Lafayette Fire Department until his untimely death as a Fire Inspector II.

Keith loved life and lived it to the fullest doing what he loved to do which was helping others. He was a jack of all trades. His greatest love was his family and grandson. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Wendi Reynaud Sonnier of Lafayette, LA; son, Reynauldo Keith Sonnier of Lafayette, LA; daughter, Krislynn Victoria Sonnier of Lafayette, LA; grandson, Cayden Sonnier; parents, Warren and Lovenia Dugas Sonnier; brothers, Timothy (Glenda) Sonnier and Frank (Ernestene) Sonnier of St. Martinville, LA; sister, Bonnie (Isaac) Thompson of Abbeville, LA; nephews, Frank Sonnier Jr. and Joshua Sonnier of Lafayette LA, Joel Thompson of Abbeville, LA, Andre' Reynaud of Lafayette, LA, and Kevin Reynaud of Dover, Delaware; nieces, BreAnna Thompson of Abbeville LA, and Ashley Reynaud of Miami, Florida; mother-in law, Peggy Reynaud of Lafayette, LA; sisters-in-law, Denise Reynaud of Inglewood, California, and Nancy Lawrence of Lafayette, LA; brother-in-law, Cornel Reynaud of Metairie, LA; aunts, Vivian Dugas of Scott, LA, Louella Morrison of Scott, LA, Bernice (Jimmy) Mays of Las Vegas, Nevada, Francis (Curley) Domingue of Duson, LA, and Yola Dugas of Maurice, LA; uncles, Lodgy (Anita) Dugas of Lafayette, LA, uncle/Godfather, Rufus Dugas of Atlanta, GA, Riley (Liz) Dugas of Picayune, MS and Rickey (Martha) Dugas of Scott, LA and Paul Broussard of New Iberia, LA; great aunt, Clara Dugas of Duson, LA and Novella Dugas of Lafayette, LA; great uncle, Eddie Dugas Sr. of Duson LA; and a host of bonus nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Riley and Ethel Dugas; paternal grandparents, Frank and Helen Sonnier; nephew, Jevon Sonnier; father-in-law, Lloyd Reynaud; brother-in-law, Keith Reynaud; aunt/Godmother, Shirley Broussard; uncles, Rodney Dugas Sr., Fernest Dugas, Lester (Pat) Dugas, Roger Dugas, Paul Sonnier and Adam Sonnier; aunts, Joyce Senegal, Loverda Morrison and Shirley Thomas and a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Cajundome Convention Center from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
