Tropical Storm Dolly downgrades to depression hurricane center says

Tropical Storm Dolly downgraded to a tropical depression Wednesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Starting out as Subtropical Depression Four Tuesday quickly became the fourth named storm of the 2020 hurricane season donning the name Dolly.

Now, Dolly is several hundred miles south-southwest of Newfoundland where the system is not expected to develop back into a tropical storm within the five-day forecast.

Prior to Dolly, the 2020 season saw three named storms in Tropical Storm Arthur, Tropical Storm Bertha and Tropical Storm Cristobal, the former two developed before the June 1 start of the season, which runs until Nov. 30.

The 2020 hurricane forecast predicts an above-average production of tropical systems especially between August and October.

The remaining 2020 hurricane season names are: Edouard, Fay, Gonzalo, Hanna, Isaias, Josephine, Kyle, Laura, Marco, Nana, Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Victy and Wilfred.
