Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Rossville
ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — Walker County authorities confirm there has been an officer-involved shooting on Claire Street in Rossville.
One Sheriff’s deputy was shot in the leg responding to a domestic call just after 9 p.m. Sunday night.
Sheriff Steve Wilson says the deputy is Sgt. Thomas Agredano and is in stable condition. He will be released later Monday morning and will be okay.
Wilson identified the suspect 47-year-old Sherman Travis Thomas, who is currently undergoing surgery. As of early Monday morning, there is no news on the suspect’s condition.

Walker County deputies responded approached Thomas during the domestic call and noticed Thomas had a weapon in his lap. Wilson says Sgt. Agredano fired shots at Thomas after Thomas first fired a gun towards the officers and failed to comply.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now actively investigating the incident. Wilson says GBI investigators will be on scene throughout Monday morning, collecting evidence.

Wilson says Thomas will be facing at least two charges of assault on officers.
