The Marion Area Chamber Ambassadors this week held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony at The Sweada Mae Art Café, 287 W. Center St. in downtown Marion.

The Sweada Mae Art Café is a hands-on art studio that includes a variety of options for families and people of all ages regardless of artistic abilities. The staff provides all supplies along with step-by-step instruction. The café currently offers paint-your-own pottery, board and brush and canvas painting. They will be adding clay, glass fusing and stoneware in 2022.

The studio has been mobile since 2019. To-go kits are a featured item for those who prefer to create in the comfort of their own home or for get-togethers with friends and family. To-go kits include all the supplies to create at home.

The Sweada Mae Art Café classroom space is available for parties, classes, and events. It is outfitted for glow painting — putting a fun twist on traditional canvas painting. They are happy to accommodate groups such as preschoolers, scouts, homeschoolers, elderly facilities, corporate events and parties of all kinds.

The studio is named after owner Rachel McCall’s late grandmother who she enjoyed making art with as a kid and again when she took her grandmother to college for a clay hand-building class.

The Sweada Mae Art Café can be found online sweadamae.com, Instagram, and Facebook. For more information, call 740-251-6009 or email info@sweadamae.com.
