Wheaton North Students Killed In Carol Stream Crash

WHEATON, IL — Two Wheaton North students have died after a car crash in Carol Stream Friday. The students were identified as Jorge Acosta-Flores and David Aguilar, according to emails sent by Wheaton North Principal Matthew Biscan to students and faculty Saturday. Both students had just finished their junior years of high school at Wheaton North.

Biscan wrote, "It is with a heavy heart that I share this terrible news with you. A classmate of yours and fellow Falcon, Jorge Acosta-Flores (Jr), was killed in a car accident yesterday morning in Carol Stream. Jorge was a member of our varsity wrestling team and was eager to begin his senior year at Wheaton North. He was a charismatic young man who put a smile on the face of anyone he met."

Biscan sent an email later that same day confirming Aguilar's death. He wrote of Aguilar, "I regret to inform you that the passenger in yesterday's car accident was one of your classmates and fellow Falcon, David Aguilar. David enjoyed soccer and wrestling and was eager to begin his senior year at Wheaton North. He was an energetic young man with hopes and dreams like all of us."

Carol Stream police confirmed the news with Patch Monday.

The fatal crash was reported just before 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Avenue and Bennett Drive, according to a Facebook post from the Carol Stream Police Department. Police say an Infiniti G37X was traveling westbound on North Avenue when it rear-ended a Freightliner box truck west of Bennett Drive.

GoFundMe pages have been started for the families of both Jorge Acosta-Flores and David Aguilar. A candlelight vigil was held outside of Wheaton North High School Saturday to honor the students.
