President Trump doesn’t care if you like the other guy better — as long as you vote for him in 2020.
The president approvingly retweeted a young conservative blogger’s tweet that she would rather be friends with Democrat Andrew Yang even though she plans to vote to reelect Trump.
“Here’s the thing: I’m voting for Trump but I wouldn’t be friends with Trump,” wrote Kassy Dillon, founder of the Lone Conservative blog. “I’m not voting for Yang but I’d definitely be his friend.”
“I’m OK with that,” Trump wrote in a retweet of Dillon’s tweet.
Yang fired back that Trump was showing nervousness over his rising star in the crowded Democratic primary field by trying to peel off a slice of the Yang Gang vote.
“Someone is hearing footsteps,” Yang wrote on Twitter.
Yang, an entrepreneur, has emerged from total obscurity to win a solid following in the Democratic primary field.
His signature issue is a plan to give every American a guaranteed monthly stipend of $1,000 and he often jokes that his Asian background makes him good with figures.
He’s polling at 3% in the Real Clear Politics average, above far better known candidates like Sen. Cory Booker, Beto O’Rourke and Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
