Elsie Marie Stubbs Nason, 94, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee died on April 14, 2015.

She was born May 9, 1920 in Utica, Ms. to the late Jesse Aron and Katherine McBride Stubbs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Nason, Sr; sisters, Helenelise Smith, Sybil Simmons and Marjorie Hammond.

She was a 1943 graduate of Mississippi Delta State Teacher College and of Mississippi University of Women in 1944. Mrs. Nason started teaching at Starkville, Ms. where she taught for two years and she taught 30 years in Hamilton County teaching at Signal Mountain Grammar School and Thrasher Elementary School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and ACEI (Association for Childhood Education International). She worked many years with the Signal Mountain Lion’s Club  with  their Fourth of July Celebration and the Labor Day Bar-b-que.

Mrs. Nason was a member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years, she also worked in the Beginner Department.

Survivors include three sons, William (Vickie) Nason, David (Nancy) Nason and Douglas Nason; granddaughter, Angela Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Avery Sullivan, Aaron Sullivan and Elyse Sullivan; sister, Rachel Tucker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Friday.
