MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was pronounced dead at the hospital after a shooting Saturday night on South Main Street in the heart of downtown Memphis.

Memphis Police reported at 10:30 that a man was driving north on Main Street near Peabody Place when a group of unknown males approached and fired a shot into his car.

Days later, police identified the victim as Dylan Lovell.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.

According to Memphis Police, at approximately 9:48 p.m, two male suspects approached the victims who were sitting inside a red Chevy Monte Carlo SS, which was stopped due to heavy traffic, on Beale Street near Main Street. The suspects pulled out handguns and told the occupants of the vehicle to “drop it off.”

MPD said, the victims attempted to drive away when one of the suspects fired a shot into the vehicle striking the front seat passenger. The two suspects fled the scene westbound on Beale street towards Riverside Drive.

The suspect is described as follows:

Suspect #1: a male with dark complexion, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-0, and is between the ages 17-25. He was wearing a white hoodie with light-colored blue jeans, and a blue medical mask covering his nose and mouth, and was armed with a handgun.

Suspect #2: a male, with medium to dark complexion, He was 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, and is between the ages of 17-25. He was wearing a dark hoodie with blue jeans and was armed with a handgun.

No arrests have been made at this point.

About a month ago, a 13-year-old girl was shot on Riverside Drive in downtown as she tried to rent a scooter. Earlier this month, shots were fired through the windows of a new hotel at Front and Beale.
