KAUST faculty and graduate students are creating a smarter future through an in-depth curriculum in fields including artificial intelligence and machine learning; computational bioscience; extreme computing and visual computing; computer science and big data; mathematical analysis, modeling and simulations; electronic and optics / photonics devices; MEMS systems; sensors, measurement and detection devices; COMS integrated circuits; communication networks; and nano-materials.

Students experience unique learning opportunities, working with some of the world's top scientists with access to cutting-edge core laboratories and computing facilities. The University's Shaheen supercomputer (Cray XC40) is currently ranked among the top 30 supercomputers in the world. The Cornea six-wall immersive CAVE is a powerful tool for 360 degree visual computing, while the nanofabrication Core Lab allows for in-house prototyping of novel devices for microsystems.
