Whitharral enters DCTF rankings at No. 9

Whitharral became the third school in the Lone Star Varsity coverage area to be ranked in the Dave Campbell Texas Football Class 1A, Division II poll at No. 9, announced Monday.

After starting the season with a loss to Springlake-Earth, the Panthers (3-1) have rattled off three straight wins. In Week Four, Whitharral beat Sands, 26-6.

Also in the poll, Motley County and Jayton switched spots with the Matadors coming in at the fourth spot and the Jaybirds at No. 5. Klondike maintained its position at No. 7.

Borden County’s, who suffered a nail-biting 62-58 loss to Sterling City last week, dropped down one spot to No. 3 in the Class 1A, Division I poll.

Idalou claimed a 36-6 win over Littlefield en route to debuting at No. 9 in the Class 3A, Division II rankings. Class 3A, Division I, No. 7-ranked Shallowater and Class 2A, Division I, No. 3-ranked Post stayed put in their respective positions.

With Classes 5A and 6A starting this week, Lubbock-Cooper is set to open the season by hosting Andrews as the Class 5A, Division II, No. 3-ranked team.
