Severe Thunderstorms Bring Strong Winds, Heavy Rain To Eastern Oklahoma

Eastern Oklahoma saw a strong storm system that brought strong winds, including brief tornado funnels, along with heavy rains Thursday afternoon through evening.

McIntosh County had a Tornado Warning Thursday evening, with two funnels spotted by our News On 6 Storm Trackers near Raiford and Eufala. Severe storms popped up with lots of rain, causing flooding concerns across Eastern Oklahoma.

The Tornado Watch for eastern Oklahoma has expired as of 9 p.m.


8:30 p.m. Update

The Tornado Warning has expired in McIntosh County Thursday, but a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8:15 p.m. Our News On 6 Storm Tracker captured a tornado on the ground near Raiford and a funnel near Eufaula. The storm is set to hit Bordeaux 8:24; Lodi 8:25; Red Oak 8:25; Dog Creek 8:26; Cedar 8:29; Denman 8:29; Norris 8:30; Hughes 8:32; Walls 8:32; Calhoun 8:33; Bengal 8:35.

Strong and some severe thunderstorms are bringing heavy rain and some hail into Green Country Thursday evening. Eastern Oklahoma is under a Tornado Watch until 9 p.m.

7:45 p.m. Update

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Haskell, McIntosh, Muskogee and Pittsburg County until 8:15 p.m.

Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for Adair, Cherokee, Haskell, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Pittsburg and Sequoyah County until 11:30 p.m.

6:30 p.m. Update

Severe Thunderstorm warnings have been issued for Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Okfuskee, Ottawa County until 5:30 p.m.

The Tulsa area is out of the severe thunderstorm warning as of 4:55 p.m. Thursday but flash flooding reports across eastern Oklahoma are in effect for Osage, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington County.

6 p.m. Update

The storm is moving east at about 60 miles per hour stretching from Edmond through Tulsa then to Claremore. The storm is set to hit Thompson Corner at 6; Fort Gibson at 6:07; Wybark at 6:07; Tahlequah at 6:10; Indian Meadows 6:14; Park Hill 6:16; Woodall 6:19; Welling 6:19 and Zeb at 6:21.
