Ocean City Coronavirus Update: Events Canceled, School Makes Plan
OCEAN CITY, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Ocean City and Cape May County.
Cases
The Cape May County Health Department has reported four active coronavirus cases, 55 people cleared off quarantine and three deaths in Ocean City as of Monday morning. There are also four active cases among non-county residents linked to Ocean City.
The CMCHD has logged 42 active cases, 886 people cleared off quarantine and 82 deaths among residents. They have also reported 22 active cases among non-residents.
There are only two active cases in Cape May County longterm-care facilities. All longterm-care facilities in the county have reported 56 deaths and 169 people cleared off quarantine.
Testing
County officials will continue drive-thru testing this Thursday and Aug. 20 at the Cape May County Fire Academy (171 Crest Haven Rd., Cape May Court House). To sign up, visit CompleteCareNJ.org and click the "Request an Appointment" tab, or call 609-465-0258.
Testing locations for COVID-19 also include Cape Regional Urgent Care centers, CVS in Upper Township, Rite-Aid in Wildwood and AtlantiCare Health Systems.
Shore Medical Center offers tests to determine whether patients have antibodies to the coronavirus. All asymptomatic individuals are eligible for the blood test. MORE.

Recent Updates
All of Ocean City's special events through October have been canceled, announced Mayor Jay Gillian. Ocean City's special events in that timeframe include the Baby Parade, the September air shows, the Corvette show and the Fall Block Party. MORE.
The Ocean City Board of Education approved the school district's reopening proposal Wednesday. The plan calls for physically attend school two days per week unless their family chooses the full-time virtual option. MORE.

Murphy has also emphasized the importance of cooperating with contact tracers as means to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
