COVID-19 in Florida: What you need to know Tuesday, Sept. 29
The Florida Department of Health reported 3,266 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, the largest single-day increase since 3,573 on Sept. 19.
Tuesday's numbers followed the lowest one-day increase since June 2. A total of 738 new cases were announced Monday. The state also reported five additional deaths Monday, the lowest since May 31.
On Tuesday, 106 new deaths were announced, bringing the reported death toll for Florida residents since the pandemic began to 14,143.
The number of Florida residents hospitalized with COVID-19 is 43,855 since the pandemic began. The Department of Health notes the total figure is cumulative and does not reflect the number of COVID-19 patients currently in hospitals.
