Crash, Widespread Outages Start Work Week In Alexandria

Thousands of customers were impacted by power outages Monday morning, according to Dominion Energy.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A crash and thousands of power outages were reported in Alexandria Monday morning. As of 1 p.m., Dominion Energy has restored power for most customers.

The outages were mainly impacting Del Ray and parts of West End Alexandria, according to Dominion Energy's outage map. As of 9:45 a.m., an estimated 2,759 power outages in Del Ray were caused by a vehicle crash. The crash in the 100 block of Hume Avenue caused wires to fall on the road, according to Alexandria Police. There were no injuries.

Around 3,227 other customers lost power due to a circuit being out in the North Ridge, upper Del Ray and Arlandria areas. Another 4,017 lost power in a widespread area from Interstate 395 up to Four Mile Run and as far south as the Duke Street corridor.

Alexandria officials ask drivers to treat intersections without power as four-way stops. If you lost power, call Dominion Energy at 866-366-4357 or report the outage online.
