New UK naval base HMS Juffair opens in Bahrain

Britain has stepped up its military presence in the Gulf by opening a new naval base in Bahrain.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, who attended the inauguration of HMS Juffair, said the base represented a watershed moment for Britain's presence in the region.

But the trip comes amid allegations of continued human rights abuses in Bahrain.
